He Didn’t Break the Bruised Reed and Neither Should You


Hurting someone because you’re trying to hurt them, and hurting someone because you’re being careless can have the exact same effect. A hurt person. Yes, they may be more likely to forgive if they see you’re being careless but it doesn’t change the fact that you’ve hurt them. And here’s the other kicker….it doesn’t make you any less culpable. Our Savior handles people’s hearts with the utmost of care – and a level of gentleness needed for each heart because He knows us so well and He cares. If we call ourselves by His name (Christian) we should be acting how He acted. No, we cannot see into hearts in the same way He can, but we can try. And we can all be more careful. We can listen more. None of us knows as much as we think we do, that’s why He tells us to walk in gentleness. He knows we think we’ve got it figured out and are likely to hurt people with our carelessness. Don’t be the bull in the china shop that thinks it’s a kitten or something. You’re a bull, I promise you, (and there’s grace for you too).
